Charlotte

City and State (or Province): Charlotte, NC

Country: USA

Best and worst seasons for riding: 12 months, although December & January tend to be the worst. It's very rainy here in the winter so with the low morning temperatures, I tend to park the bike unless it's above 40 degrees.

Best and worst time of day: I work flex time, so I normally try to leave my house around 6:30am. If I wait until 7:30, it's stop & go traffic. Same goes on the way home....if I can leave before 4:30, it's usually a clear ride home.

Best and worst time of year: April & September are the best weather wise. It gets smoking hot and humid here in the summer, so afternoons can be brutal.

Best and worst roads to take to work: I live in north Charlotte, so my typical commute is Beatties Ford road to I-85 South, to the Hwy 16/I-277 loop around the city. I tend to avoid I-77, but with the new HOV lanes, I may give it a try.

General impressions on your fellow motorists: As typical with most major cities, people seem to be doing everything but paying attention while they are driving. That's actually why I like commuting on the bike. It gets me charged up for a day at work.

How cool or grumpy are the local cops: No experience.
