Adelaide, Australia

City and State (or Province): Adelaide South Australia

Country: Australia

Best and worst seasons for riding: Summer is VERY hot but it’s possible to ride all year round

Best and worst time of day: Night-time in Adelaide is very quiet. Peak traffic hours are 4pm to 6pm. Riding West at sunset is summer is very dazzling. Thursday nights are busy and statistically, Tuesday has the most motorcycle accidents (I have no idea why) After 1am on weekdays, there is almost no traffic to be seen.

Best and worst time of year: Spring and Autumn are glorious, Winter is mild and bearable as it never drops below freezing except in the hills. Summer can be very hot (100+F). We have quite low rainfall and very little stormy weather.

Best and worst roads to take to work: All the roads are quite well maintained. Suburban backstreet and city speed limit is 50km/h. Main roads are 60, 70 or 80km/h depending on their proximity to houses and the max speed limit in the country is 110km/h

General impressions on your fellow motorists: Reasonably courteous, traffic laws are enforced and speeding drivers are pounced on by cops. Quite a safe city for motorcyclists but you still need to be alert.

How cool or grumpy are the local cops: Very motorcycle friendly.
